About the Initiative

The initiative began with a Ramadan football tournament that brought members of the Sudanese community together through the game. Building on that experience, Engineer Ahmed Sami proposed developing the idea into an organized and sustainable football initiative. He consulted Mr Sayed Bikat and Mr Ali, former President of the Sudanese Community, before Engineer Nizar Al-Wasila and Mr Khalid Bashir joined the effort, forming the nucleus of the founding team.

SPL UAE operates as a nonprofit organization dedicated solely to organizing and managing friendly and competitive football leagues and related community sporting activities, with service to the community — rather than profit — at the heart of its purpose.

To establish SPL UAE as a leading sporting and community platform bringing Sudanese teams, players, youth, families and communities together under one organized and sustainable structure. Our long-term vision is for the UAE experience to become a model that can expand to Sudanese communities around the world, creating a global Sudanese sporting network.

To build an organized and sustainable Sudanese football structure in the UAE that provides year-round competitions and brings Sudanese teams and communities together, promotes sportsmanship, discipline, respect and community engagement, with particular emphasis on identifying and developing young Sudanese football talent.

The project begins in the UAE, with the ambition to extend to Sudanese communities across diaspora countries through organized competitions that share the same identity, vision and objectives. The greater dream is to help new generations of players — especially youth and children — develop pathways towards clubs and national teams, while building a connected sporting community and preserving Sudanese identity.
